A
fresh and breezy morning was similar to the last few days but it was a much
calmer and altogether lovely afternoon with a gorgeous sunset too boot. Though
nothing hugely rare made landfall there were highlights aplenty starting off
with the first Ring Ouzel, Brambling and Woodcock
of the autumn at Nant at dawn. Not
too soon after the first Hen Harrier of the autumn was watched
passing by at sea off the South End; this female becoming the second island
record this year.
Sea-watching
proved productive with a lone Balearic
Shearwater gliding past and a Pomarine Skua harassing all at sea. Furthermore 26 Common Scoters, 24 Mediterranean Gulls, 568 Black-headed
Gulls, 90 Common Gulls, 440 Kittiwakes, and 782 Razorbills
were moving offshore.
